Laina ShockleyLaina Shockley (née Silvasy) was a founding member of Simple Living Institute, Inc., and has served as the organization's Treasurer since inception. Laina moved to Orlando in 1996 from Virginia Beach, VA, to attend the University of Central Florida pursuing a Bachelors degree in Business. Her major was in Hospitality Management, with a focus on finance. After working as an Analyst for five years with a well-respected hospitality firm, Laina opened a small-business consulting firm based here in Orlando, Expert Business Solutions, LLC (www.expertbizllc.com). In December 2005, Laina graduated again from the University of Central Florida, this time with a Masters in Business Administration. Laina's main areas of interest within Simple Living are conservation, gardening, and urban renewability (ways for people in urban environments to minimize their impact on Mother Earth). In addition to her financial duties as treasurer, she handles web design and content. Laina's interests are many and varied. Music is a big part of her life, and she enjoys listening to a wide range of genres, and creating her own music on her piano or cello. She is an avid bookworm, and loves to travel. She likes statistics, card games (especially poker and pinochle), board games (especially mah jongg and scrabble), jigsaw puzzles, and crossword puzzles. While at home, she enjoys baking for people and dogs alike, working in the garden, and writing emails to her elected officials urging environmental stewardship. Most of all she loves spending time with her husband Kelly, her dogs Champ and Samson, and the rest of her immediate Silvasy and Shockley family.
